Secretary-General's Welcome

Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors, Volunteers, and members of the EmpireMUNC community,

It is my honor to invite you to the sixth annual Empire Model United Nations Conference. Hosted from Thursday November 21st to Sunday November 24th on our New York University’s Manhattan campus. Building on the great success of previous conferences, EmpireMUNC VI promises to be one of the best run conferences in the city.

EmpireMUNC strives to deliver the best conference experience possible. With integrated feedback and lessons from the previous years, we are working tirelessly to foster an engaging and open forum for the next generation of leaders in international affairs. Our conference will feature committees for every type of delegate, from larger GAs and Specialized Committees to EmpireMUNC’s signature General Crisis and Joint Crisis Committees. EmpireMUNC VI’s unique mesh of topics will include current international affairs and recurring global issues spanning universes real, fictional, and dystopian spread out across past, present, and future.

With NYU ranking top 10 on the US Model UN Collegiate Circuit, EmpireMUNC will be staffed by some of the most experienced students the collegiate circuit has to offer. EmpireMUNC VI will serve as an opportunity for high school students to compete in New York City and experience an extremely exciting and rigorous weekend of debate, diplomacy, and cooperation. Our Staff will be working hard through November 2019 to ensure that you have a rewarding delegate experience, both substantively and socially.

We also believe that there should be more to EmpireMUNC than just Model UN. Last year we introduced our first charity donation program and we were able to raise more than twelve-hundred dollars for MADRE! This year we’ll be stepping it up and we’re making our charity program an indisputable pillar to our conference. Furthermore, we hope to make EmpireMUNC VI a conference to remember for delegates, advisors and staffers alike through our EmpireMUNC VI merchandise, in-action photographs, and publications of Resolutions and Directives. We also hope to provide a platform for students to learn more about the college environment through interactions with our staffers. From workshops led by our very own staffers to our revamped Delegate Dance, EmpireMUNC VI will educate, engage, and enthrall delegates in the City that Never Sleeps.

On behalf of the entire Directorate and staff of the conference, I look forward to welcoming you in person at EmpireMUNC VI!

Sincerely,

Javier Beltranena
